Faithful in the little things…

Ok…so haven’t blogged in 6 months or so!  See…I told you I was a blogslacker!!!  I was thinking about Matthew 25:21 – “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.”  I have found myself lately realizing that I have NOT been faithful in the little things, yet desiring the “many things” Jesus was talking about in this parable.  I do know now, at almost 36 years old that little things do matter.  Like making sure every one of those darned dollar bills has a name and a place – that’s Davespeak for a BUDGET!  Taking time to sit and talk with my kids.  Or, in the case of my 16 month old, taking the time to chase him around the kitchen/living room/den 16 times because he’s tugging on my pants leg to get me to chase him.  I’ve begun a new page in life…little things matter most!  I’ve started with the most insignificant habit…making the bed every morning.  Let’s see where it leads!

I am a blogslacker

Hi, my name is Rob and I am a scatterbrain. Seriously, I need to get better at updating the blog!!!
Did have lunch with the pastor yesterday to do my yearly evaluation. This was my second one, and I’ve got to say that I am 2 for 2 on the enjoyability factor. Both times I have come away refreshed and renewed. Can you say that about your yearly employment review? Plus, we opted out of our usual Thai food addiction and enjoyed some Vietnamese food. Wow that is some GOOD FOOD!
That’s all for now!

It could be any time…

The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Bruce Rossmeyer passed away in a motorcycle crash in Wyoming.
Bruce is the owner of Destination Daytona, the largest Harley-Davidson dealership in the world…just up the interstate from me.

As a fellow motorcyclist, it’s always sad to hear of a brother going down. Bruce was a well-known member of the community. Please pray for his family…

The Flu…eewww…

I sure do hate the flu. The fever, chills, can’t move, can’t do much of anything. As a worship leader, my first thought if (and when) I get the flu is “am I going to be OK for Sunday?”

And then I am gently reminded God’s Kingdom still operates and is not dependent upon me or anything I have to offer.

Reassuring, methinks.

Sure am glad, though, that He chooses to use me! I pray he chooses to use me this Sunday, too. :)

More to come…

Sunday Worship 7.26.09

This morning’s set –

Opening – Lord Reign in Me

Main Set – Great is Thy Faithfulness

The Potter’s Hand

Kid’s Message – Wonderful Words of Life (verses 1 and 2)

Scripture – II Kings 4:42-44

Message – God Provides for the Mission

Offering – Enough

Closing – Prince of Peace

This was our service for this morning.  We were missing our drummer, due to his being on a mission trip.  As always, the Pastor did his usual AMAZING job of filling in.  It was our bass player’s last week before he has a small procedure which will keep him our for a week or two.  Please keep him in your prayers!!!

The pastor talked about God giving us all that we need to complete His mission.  It was a good reminder…because I think we fall into one of 2 camps when it comes to this.  We either:

1.  Try to provide on our own to complete God’s mission or…

2.  Expect God to provide for OUR mission

More than likely, we bounce between the two, depending on the day, week, or hour!

Always good to be together worshipping God!

More to come…

P.S  I’m participating in a blog-sharing project called “Sunday Setlists” – a network of worshippers, worship leaders, techs, etc. who share their Sunday orders of worship and thoughts on the morning’s services.  I’m hoping this will keep me honest about blogging regularly!!!  PEACE!

Hello World – attempt number 7 or so…

Ok…so here I am with attempt #7ish to blog.  So…here I am blogging.  Weee!!!   Just kidding.  I’m hoping this will be a blog about leading worship, and that I can share insights, both from me and from other worship leaders about:

what worship is

what it’s not

why we worship

the fact that we WILL worship someone or something

and assorted random things about my experiences of leading worship and attempting to “walk the road”.

I hope you’ll stick around…so I will be more apt to stick with this!

Later!

-Rob
